Prime accused hacker in Indian Bitcoin Scandal claims of hacking Bitfinex twice
The Indian massive Bitcoin scandal now brings more shocking revelation as the prime accused claims that he had hacked Hong Kong-based crypto exchange Bitfinex two times. Srikrishna Ramesh, aka Sriki, the prime accused hacker of the scandal in the Karnataka state of India, said in his confession that he is the first individual to hack the exchange giant.
The large scandal involved hacking a government procurement portal to swindle crores of Indian rupees while using data accessed from the government portal.
The hacker further revealed how he managed to break into the highly secure system twice, while this time was his first significant BTC exchange hack. He stated:
“Bitfinex is my first big BTC exchange hack; I attacked the system twice, and I am the first person to do so. The second time was a spear-phishing attack that resulted in two Israeli hackers working for the army accessing the computers of an employee that gave them access to the AWS cloud account.”
Indian hacker stole from several crypto platforms
While explaining how the hacker got access to the Bitfinex exchange, he said that he received the KVM (Kernel-based virtual machine) to access the server by exploiting a vulnerability in the data center. He further said that he then rebooted the server into GRUB mode to reset the root password and then logged in to reset the withdrawal server passwords. He finally routed the money via BTC to his BTC address.
He further claimed that he has a long hacking history with various online poker platforms and crypto exchanges. He claimed to have stolen 100 BTC from the crypto platform Bitclub Network.
Sriki said that he lives a luxurious life claiming to have gained more than 20,000 BTC. He said that he had spent them all on his luxurious lifestyle, which seems more like boasting.
The hacks in the crypto space have become very common which is one of the biggest reason of many people not investing in the space. As TheCoinRise reported, an earlier DeFi hack targeted BSC to stole $12.7 worth Bitcoin from pNetwork.
